RESEARCH CATALOG

KPV

KPV is listed in the Peptide Tactics catalog and available to order for research use in India, supplied as a 10 mg lyophilized vial. Searches for Lys-Pro-Val, α-MSH(11-13) or MSH (11-13) refer to the same listing. The identity section below describes the free-acid tripeptide as recorded in PubChem; it does not establish the salt form of any supplied batch.

KPV is the tripeptide Lys-Pro-Val. Public chemical records index it as the C-terminal three residues of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), written α-MSH(11–13). It is a three-residue fragment, not the intact 13-residue hormone.

Research classification

Synthetic tripeptide corresponding to α-MSH residues 11–13. Experimental and preclinical literature has studied KPV in inflammatory models, including murine contact-sensitivity and colitis systems (Hiltz and Lipton, FASEB Journal, 1989, PMID 2550304; Getting et al., JPET, 2003, PMID 12750433; Dalmasso et al., Gastroenterology, 2008, PMID 18061177). Those are findings from cell and animal experiments. They are not effects attributed to any supplied material. KPV is not an approved medicine.

Chemical characteristics

  • At 342.43 g/mol this is among the smallest peptides in the catalog. Intact α-MSH is a 13-residue peptide with N-terminal acetylation and C-terminal amidation in standard biochemical descriptions; that parent molecule is far larger and is not this listing.
  • The PubChem record describes the unmodified free-acid tripeptide H-Lys-Pro-Val-OH. N-acetyl-KPV and other modified or stereoisomeric tripeptides are different molecules with different masses.
  • A single lysine side-chain amine makes the peptide net-basic at neutral pH. There is no cysteine, methionine or tryptophan, so there is no disulfide chemistry and no 280 nm aromatic absorbance from those residues.
  • PubChem groups some acetate-salt synonym strings onto the same CID as the free-acid formula. That grouping is not a specification for supplied material.

Analytical methods

  • Reversed-phase HPLC (RP-HPLC) is the method most commonly used to express the chromatographic purity of a synthetic peptide as a percentage of total peak area at a stated wavelength.
  • Mass spectrometry (typically ESI-MS or MALDI-TOF) is used to confirm that the observed mass of the material is consistent with the expected mass of the intended sequence.
  • Because purity figures are method-dependent, an analytical result is only interpretable alongside the method conditions and the batch it describes.

Both methods are covered in more detail in our guides to HPLC analysis of peptides and mass spectrometry for identity confirmation.

Stability and storage considerations

  • Lyophilized peptides are generally supplied as a dry solid because the removal of water slows hydrolytic degradation pathways.
  • Cold, dry, light-protected storage is the general handling expectation for lyophilized research peptides.
  • Once a peptide is taken into solution, its stability profile changes and is influenced by solvent, pH, temperature and the number of freeze-thaw cycles.
  • Storage and handling expectations for a specific batch should be taken from that batch's documentation rather than from general guidance.

See peptide stability and degradation for the chemistry behind these considerations.

What this page does not claim

  • KPV is not α-MSH, ACTH, or a melanocortin-receptor agonist by default. The parent hormone and this tripeptide fragment are different molecules.
  • Published work on inflammatory pathways, PepT1-mediated uptake, and murine colitis models is experimental or preclinical. Peptide Tactics does not claim that this material treats, prevents or improves inflammation, gut function, skin condition or any disease, in humans or otherwise.
  • Getting et al. (PMID 12750433) reported that KPV’s antimigratory effect in their model was not blocked by an MC3/4 receptor antagonist and that KPV did not increase macrophage cAMP. This page therefore does not describe KPV as a melanocortin-receptor agonist.
  • The formula and mass above describe the free-acid tripeptide as computed by PubChem. Peptide Tactics has not established the salt form, counter-ion or net peptide content of the material supplied under this listing.
  • A PubChem record is reference information about a molecule. It is not evidence that any given vial contains that molecule.

Batch testing

Every batch of KPV we sell has a supplier certificate of analysis and an independent laboratory report. We compare the two and sell a batch only if they match.

Both reports for your batch are available on request with every order.

We strongly encourage you to do your own independent testing. If your test results do not match the vendor reports, we offer a no-questions-asked refund.

Our guides on how to read a peptide certificate of analysis and what a purity figure does and does not mean cover what to look for in the documentation.

Ordering KPV in India

KPV is ordered through the catalog and finalised over WhatsApp or email, so that any question about specification or documentation is settled before the order is placed rather than after it. See the full guide to buying peptides in India for pricing across the catalog.

Dispatch timing. All orders are dispatched as soon as couriers are operating.

Distribution is within India. Material is supplied for in-vitro research and analytical applications only, and we do not supply for human or veterinary use.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy KPV in India from Peptide Tactics?
Yes. KPV is listed as a 10 mg lyophilized vial with the price shown on this page, available to order for research use within India. It is also searched as Lys-Pro-Val or α-MSH(11-13); those names refer to this listing.
What documentation is available for KPV?
Every batch has a supplier certificate of analysis and an independent laboratory report. We compare the two and sell a batch only if they match. Both reports for your batch are available on request with every order. We strongly encourage you to do your own independent testing — if your results do not match the vendor reports, we offer a no-questions-asked refund.
How quickly are KPV orders dispatched?
All orders are dispatched as soon as couriers are operating. Orders received outside courier hours are dispatched as soon as couriers reopen. We do not quote a delivery date, because transit time is the courier's and not ours.
Can you source a peptide that is not listed?
Yes. Send the compound name, quantity and any specification that matters — salt form, purity threshold, documentation requirement — and we will investigate sourcing options and tell you what is possible, what it would cost and what documentation exists.
Is KPV intended for human use?
No. Everything in this catalog is supplied for in-vitro research and analytical applications only, and not for human or veterinary use. We do not provide dosing, administration guidance or any therapeutic recommendation, and we cannot supply material for those purposes.
What is KPV?
KPV is the tripeptide Lys-Pro-Val. PubChem indexes it as MSH (11-13), the C-terminal three residues of α-MSH. In this catalog it is listed strictly as a research material.
Is KPV the same as α-MSH?
No. α-MSH is a 13-residue peptide annotated in UniProt P01189 as SYSMEHFRWGKPV within pro-opiomelanocortin. KPV is only the last three residues of that sequence. They differ in length, mass, terminal chemistry and pharmacological classification.
What is the molecular weight of KPV?
PubChem CID 125672 gives a molecular formula of C16H30N4O4 and a molecular weight of 342.43 g/mol, with a monoisotopic mass of 342.23 Da, for the free-acid tripeptide. Material supplied as a salt will have a different measured mass per vial.
Does KPV reduce inflammation or heal the gut?
This catalog does not make that claim. There is experimental and preclinical literature on KPV in inflammatory models, including cell systems and mouse colitis studies. Those papers describe research findings under their own conditions. They do not describe this listing, and they are not a basis for human use, dosing or treatment claims.
What format is KPV supplied in?
The catalog entry is a 10 mg vial of lyophilized powder. Lyophilized presentation is standard for research peptides because the dry solid is more stable in transit and storage than a solution.

Can't Find the Compound You Need?

The catalog is not the full range of research materials we can look into. If you need a compound that is not listed, tell us what you are looking for and we will investigate sourcing options for it.

Useful things to include in your enquiry:

  • The compound name, and any code or CAS number you have for it.
  • Quantity per vial, and how many vials.
  • Any specification that matters to your work — salt form, purity threshold, or the analytical method you need it reported against.
  • Whether batch documentation or an independent analytical report is a requirement, so we can establish up front whether it is available.

We will tell you what we can source, what it would cost and what documentation exists. Where we cannot source something, or cannot establish its documentation, we will say so rather than take the order.

Sourcing enquiries are accepted for in-vitro research and analytical use only. We cannot supply material for human or veterinary use, and we do not advise on how any compound should be used.
